The founders of Unify Dots came back together as entrepreneurs to ensure they could give back to society by helping children of poor families gain an education and have a seat at the table of the world. Each child that gets removed from the cycle of poverty by education has a multiplier effect of 6 people as the child then goes on to work, provides shelter and removes a family out of starvation and homelessness. In addition, we focus on providing humanitarian assistance to areas impacted by natural calamities, disasters or unforeseen circumstances. We have committed to donating over 25% of our profit to charitable causes. I am pleased to report the following impact we have been able to create around Humanitarian Relief in Ukraine, Covid Pandemic assistance in Philippines and India and upliftment through education in India, Philippines and Afghanistan.
Unify Dots is working to ensure that children across the world get access to high quality education.
This year, through a faithful commitment to education and nutrition, we enabled the Lotus Petal Foundation to provide essential educational materials, nutritious meals, and support to children from low-income families in India. The partnership has resulted in the distribution of over 88,000 meals in a single quarter, addressing a critical need for food security among the students.
Unify Dots’ support has also been instrumental in reintegrating children who had dropped out of school. The program has resulted in great success, with a 97% pass rate among the 145 students who participated in the government board exams.
We introduced the "Global Challenge For A Cause - the 20 Days, 200k steps challenge" on Giving Tuesday. This challenge enabled registered individuals to make a significant impact in the lives of students studying at Lotus Petal Foundation by aiming to complete 200,000 steps in 20 days. Upon completion of each challenge, Unify Dots supported nutrition of one student for one year and being a catalyst for positive change. 79 children are now being supported by Unify Dots through this program.
At Unify Dots, we firmly believe that every child deserves a clean, ventilated, well-equipped classroom for their education. We have supported the construction of 10 classrooms in one wing of the Lotus Petal Senior Secondary School, which is enabling a safe learning space for 400 children every day. The teachers are also motivated to teach in a conducive atmosphere. The quality education will enable these children to break the cycle of poverty by entering mainstream jobs based on education.
Unify Dots provided eight dedicated buses to provide point-to-point transportation for students from low-income families. This initiative was undertaken to address the logistical challenges faced by the children and their families, ensuring that they could easily access the educational opportunities offered at the Lotus Petal Senior Secondary School campus in Gurugram, India. By removing transportation obstacles, we strive to empower every child to embark on a journey of learning, growth, and success.
At Unify Dots, we believe that nutrition goes hand in hand with education & is a key to unlocking a brighter future. In our commitment to support health of children, we provided kitchen equipment in Gurugram, India to deliver 3000+ meals for 1500+ children daily. We aspire to empower the young minds with vitamin & nutrient-rich meals they need to thrive.
In a 100-day program that we started we discussed missions to support with our team. For every team member that walked over 1Million steps over 100 days we provided financial, healthcare and educational support to cover all the costs for 1 year for a child. In 2022, 61 people at Unify Dots competed in this program to help 61 children get a place on the table that they otherwise wouldn’t have.
When Super Typhoon Odette (also known as Typhoon Rai) struck Philippines, we found that residents in Southern Leyte did not have electricity or any way to communicate with the outside world. We donated solar lamps with plug points to provide ability to power phones and fans so that they could get the basic needs and be able to re-establish communication plus have warmth in their houses. Our team members also collected clothes to help the residents that were shipped along with the solar lamps.
We worked actively with our team in Poland and donated funds to purchase items that refugees and displaced Ukrainians needed. We partnered with HelpUkraine Center which has a warehouse in Chelm, Poland and shipped the following products most funded by us and some via donations and help we raised.
We partnered with Lotus Petal Foundation in India and with ABS CBN Foundation in Philippines to provide support and meals to day laborers. We donated funds for 100,000 meals to be provided
At the early stage of the Pandemic, we found that nurses, doctors and other health care workers were looking to get protection while working at the hospitals in Philippines. Since there were no readymade supplies available, we came up with the idea of modifying full face snorkel masks and using them as face shields so that healthcare workers in Philippines could continue to operate in hospitals while being safe. We purchased the masks and worked with doctors to modify masks. These masks were provided in 12 hospitals and 20 other health care facilities in Philippines.
We partnered with Save the Children in Philippines and Afghanistan and Lotus Petal Foundation in India to help provide free education, healthcare and meals to children of poor families. We have supported several initiatives that are listed below.
Due to the Pandemic, schools were shut down and Lotus Petal Foundation in India was unable to do in-person teaching. To enable shifting to a remote model, we donated 50 tablet devices and also organized an online digital concert to raise funds for the charity. In all, we were able to get tables for every child in Lotus Petal Foundation with funds raised for 550 tablets provided to the school.
Unify Dots has also donated approximately 50 laptops (new or lightly used) to faculty and high school children to allow for more advanced work that cannot be done with Tablets.
The founders of Unify Dots wanted to see the work of Lotus Petal scale and we helped them in many ways to increase their impact from 550 children to over 2,000 children. The following actions were taken and we are happy to report that construction of the new school campus for Lotus Petal Foundation is well under way and the school will be opened in April 2022 to admit nearly 2,500 children free of cost.
We saw that the government schools in India were not being run well and funded Lotus Petal to provide teaching assistance to these schools. We have been able to improve the quality of education for about 1,200 children in government schools. Lotus Petal did several things with our help including building functioning toilets as without toilets, female children cannot attend school and are vulnerable to exploitation. Lotus Petal also provided teachers that worked with the existing staff and children to raise the level of education. When I visited a government school in Haryana, India I found that the government appointed English language teacher didn’t speak English. Lotus Petal provided the teachers that could fill the vacuum and now the children are able to speak basic English. This transformation happened in a matter of 7 months from the point the organization was engaged. We are so blessed to help enable this transformation.
We donated money to Save the Children for helping girls in Afghanistan get an education after the US troops exited the country which unfortunately lead to a significant back step for female children in Afghanistan.
Unify Dots has adopted 10 children in Philippines through the Save the Children Program and 3 children in India via Lotus Petal Foundation that it will fund the education, food, school supplies and health costs for these kids. In 2022, we hope to grow this initiative to cover 50 children that we will fund directly in different countries and in 2023 to 200 children
In the Philippines, we noticed that children in Tondo, Manila were playing on the streets where large trucks and vehicles drove endangering their lives. We partnered with Purple Community Foundation to identify a unused space around an area where Trash pickers lived and converted it into a Gym. Above is a picture of the transformation. Unify Dots paid for all the supplies to transform the space into a workable gym to get kids off the street and into a safe place.
As we grow our organization, we hope to do more to help educate children across the world that otherwise would not be able to get this right. We believe Education is a right not a privilege and every person in this world is entitled to a fair and free education and we hope to make this a reality for more and more children. In 2022, with our partnerships we positively impacted about 2,000 children in various ways. In 2023, we grew that number to impacting over 3,000 children. By 2025, we hope to positively impact the lives of 5,000 children.
